Debate with Erik Marcus, Feb. 25, 2007
Erik Marcus is a vocal proponent of the welfarist approach to animal
protection. He had previously challenged Gary Francione
to a debate – a decision that Marcus likely ended up regretting. During this long debate, Marcus is unable to
muster any convincing arguments to back up his position. After two-and-a-half hours, Francione emerges as the clear
winner.

Vegan Freak Podcast, Nov. 3, 2006.
From the show's description: “Our conversation with Francione focuses on the recent push behind ‘humane’ meat and
welfarist activism, why veganism is living abolition in your daily life, and what we need to do to create a vital and
broad-based movement that challenges oppression of all animals. This is an interview not to be missed. There's
much to consider in this interview for any of us who want to see an end to animal exploitation.”

Animal Voices, Feb. 22, 2002
Animal Voices is an animal-rights radio show that is broadcast weekly by CIUT FM 89.5 radio in Toronto, Canada. The interview below
has been divided into two parts that are roughly 25 minutes each. This interview and the one below are probably
the best, most-accessible introduction to Professor Francione's philosophy of animal rights. If you listen to only two shows from this
page, make it this one, and the one below.
Animal Voices, Nov. 2, 2004
Excellent interview, especially when combined with the one above (from Feb. 2002).
Animal Voices, Dec. 13, 2005
This interview is interesting but, frankly, not as good as the two listed above. Professor Francione and Professor Taimie Bryant discuss
issues related to animal rights and the law, including how animal issues are taught (or not taught) in law schools.
